I didn't post pictures of the ones I bought, the dead link you see is for an old sig of mine.
I considered doing exactly what you suggested, which is shaving off a part of the plastic so they would not protrude as far. But considering that the ones I got have already started working intermittently ( i'm not sure if this is related to them being too tall), I opted to buy the ones Rob linked to.
